ANNA OF ZANZIBAR 3

Anna of Zanzibar

Zanzibar – East Coast – South, Zanzibar – Private Villas

Anna of Zanzibar combines personalized service with a relaxed atmosphere. With only four luxurious suites, this boutique hotel offers privacy and exclusivity, ensuring that our guests enjoy a truly unique holiday experience.

Overview

Located on the wonderful white beaches of Zanzibar’s east coast, Anna of Zanzibar offers you elaborate colonial simplicity, combined with the privacy, luxury and amenities of a five star boutique hotel. Situated between Jambiani and Raz Michamvi,

Anna of Zanzibar is only an hour’s drive from Stone Town, a UNSECO World Heritage Site, with its fascinating fusion of Arabic, Asian and African cultures.

The Anna was a traditional trading currency dating back to the days when dhows negotiated the trade winds to the Middle East and India, and Arabic and Asian traders made Zanzibar their home.

Anna is also the name of the daughter and godchild of the directors who founded this boutique hotel on the romantic east coast of Zanzibar.

Accommodation

All four of the luxury villas are situated in our tropical garden with views directly onto the Indian Ocean. Each suite includes a separate lounge area, a bedroom, dressing room and bathroom.

The rooms are furnished in a luxurious fusion of colonial and original Zanzibar style and have private terraces overlooking the ocean. We provide full room service on request and each suite is equipped with the amenities suited to five-star luxury, including a mini bar with a wine cooler, tea and coffee-making facilities, an individual room safe, a hairdryer and wireless internet connectivity. Our Master bedrooms are equipped with air-condition and ceiling vans.

We want you to enjoy the scenes and atmosphere of Zanzibar’s beautiful east coast, but a television and a telephone are available in the main house and, in addition to the wireless internet access in the suites and the main house, RIM (Blackberry) is also functional on the property.

Other activities

Make sure that you enjoy Zanzibar’s tropical beaches and the warm Indian Ocean. There is also the vibrant capital and World Heritage Site, Stone Town, and the exotic spice farms to explore in the center of the island.

A visit to the neighboring villages is a good opportunity to experience the local culture and bustling village life. The Indian Ocean surrounding the island offers excellent opportunities for deep sea fishing, which we will be happy to arrange on your request. We can offer you half day or full day fishing trips with our own speedboat.

Anna of Zanzibar, in conjunction with Buccaneer Diving Centre, offers access to some of the finest scuba diving sites in Zanzibar.

The reefs on the south-east coast include soft and hard corals, sponges and anemones in abundance and you will be amazed by the sheer variety of fish species to be viewed in these waters. The dive center is located only 10 minutes away and we will be glad to offer free transport.

Those reliable winds that allowed for successful seafaring and trading in a bygone era, now make for perfect kite surfing conditions on the island. Together with a European kite surfing school, we can organize both equipment and training lessons for novices and experienced kite surfers.

Zanziplanet reviews

This is a fantastic small resort that places huge emphasis on the little things. The food is fantastic and the staff attentive. We think Anna is the perfect place to escape post safari or for a romantic break.

Environment and local community

Together, Baraza, Breezes and The Palms now form ‘The Zanzibar Collection’, as they are all owned and managed by the same family. This family has an excellent ethos and vision for their properties, and has done a good deal of work with the local community in Bwejuu. Every week they run a Swahili day where they promote local Swahili culture through the food and the excellent evening entertainment. They also include a Swahili phrase card in the guest info pack in every room to encourage guests to learn a bit of the local language!

They have also helped build a mosque in Bwejuu, as well as contributing to local education and healthcare facilities. One of the best aspects of their work with the local community is their development of a skilled Zanzibar workforce. They actively seek out workers from Bwejuu, and provide them with training in hospitality and tourism which obviously opens further doors for them in the future and strengthens their relationship with the local community.

Zanziplanet reviews

Baraza is the first true European standard 5* hotel in Zanzibar and it is totally unique in its design and layout. It’s like nothing else on the island. The word “heavenly” is not an exaggeration. The private villas are spacious, lush and exquisitely decorated just like the rest of the hotel.

The Spa is one of the best we have seen the world over, with expert masseurs and therapists sourced from a variety of different countries and backgrounds. All the staffs are extremely helpful and attentive, and they understand the delicate balance of personal service and privacy. The food at Baraza is absolutely superb – as is the tasteful evening entertainment, and the wine!
We have visited many times and don’t think anyone will be disappointed with Baraza.Bottom of Form
