Zanziplanet reviews
Hakuna Matata is a hidden gem out on a fantastic secluded bay on the west coast. The sunsets here are amazing and the atmosphere around the palace ruins is extraordinary. The only down side is that at low tide the sea bed is a little rocky. Hakuna Matata Beach Lodge is not far from Stone Town and the food at the hotel restaurant is superb.
If you are looking for a magical intimate experience, and fine service, this is the one.
Fumba Beach Lodge
Zanzibar – West
A fantastic property with a 2km stretch of beach set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Overview
Fumba Beach Lodge has now become a real alternative to the more crowded East Coast. It boasts over 40 acres of grounds, protected by the WWF due to the area’s outstanding natural beauty, and an impressive 2km of private beach containing 3 sandy coves.
Fumba Beach lodge is the only property to be set in the Menai Bay Conservation Area which was set up in 1998. The project was designed to teach villagers the importance of protecting their natural heritage and show how Eco-tourism could bring in much needed money without damaging the environment.
Facilities
This property has everything you would expect from a top quality guest house, we found the open air restaurant to be very accommodating, serving good quality international cuisine as well as a variety of local specialties and of course plenty of sea food.
In the Dhow FumBar, partly constructed from an old Zanzibar dhow and set on top of a cliff, you are guaranteed service with a smile and the perfect place to watch the sun go down, whilst relaxing by the pool.
Other activities
Due to its location only 30 minutes outside Stone Town, Fumba Beach Lodge is perfect for those seeking a relaxing beach holiday and to soak up a little culture.
Zanziplanet reviews
Fumba Beach Lodge is an excellent property in a great location. We would recommend upgrading to a suite if available as they are more secluded and have better access to the beach. Snorkeling is fantastic here and dive facilities are available, although for the best dive sites you will need to travel.
