Located in the mahogany forest in the lake Manyara National Park, once the hunting ground of Hemingway and other earlier adventurers.

10 spacious tree houses cradled in the boughs of mahogany trees and situated about a kilometer from the lakeshore. Crafted from local timber and makuti (palm fronds), Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is discreetly tucked away in an ancient mahogany forest in close proximity to the exquisite soda lake. Each tree house suite features large windows to invite the lush forest inside. The classically elegant rooms are fitted with contemporary furnishings in neutral colours and textures. Bedrooms have overhead fans, mosquito nets and earthy, understated features.

An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe the preparation of delicious Pan-African cuisine, which may be enjoyed, in the theatrical boma, on dining decks, or on your private viewing deck with spectacular forest views. Breakfasts and picnics are also served on the lakeshore.

The lodge has a total of 67 en-suite guest rooms The circular, closely-thatched rooms echo the traditional Maasai ‘Boma’ style of construction whilst featuring a vibrant interior design concept that reflects the Maasai people’s abiding love
of brilliant scarlet-and-indigo checked ‘Shukas’ (cloaks) and bright yellow, white, blue and orange beadwork. Each room has a private veranda and breathtaking views of the shimmering reaches of the flamingo-frosted Lake.

Perched high above the Lake with endless views over the floor of the Great Rift Valley, the circular dining room and bright murals of the
open-air bar area feature fabulous avian-inspired frescoes, colourful Maasai artefacts and a unique domed basketwork ceiling hung with carved gourds and nest-shaped lanterns.

Easily the most dramatic of all the swimming pools in the Serena Group’s stable, the Lake Manyara Pool, which has received significant architectural acclaim, lies below the lodge, on the very edge of the escarpment with mesmeric views across the still waters of the lake and the age-old majesty of the Great Rift Valle.
