Rubondo Island Camp (Lake Victoria)

Rubondo Island Camp is situated on Rubondo Island, in the southwest of Lake Victoria. This 240km² island provides an unforgettable experience for visitors to Tanzania, combining the breathtaking natural beauty of a forest refuge with the relaxing tranquillity of sandy lakeshore beaches.

NUMBER OF ROOMS & DESCRIPTION:
The camp operates 10 bandas (luxury tents). Each of the ten units overlooks the lake, a view which may be enjoyed from the seclusion of a private terrace and just a few yards from the sandy lakeshore. The comfortable large tents have windows on all sides and, instead of the common zips, an entrance door. A spacious en suite bath- and dressing room has been constructed for each banda. Great care has been taken to use local natural building materials.

RESTAURANTS & BAR:
An outcrop of rocks amidst scattered trees provides the perfect setting for the restaurant and bar, offering a splendid view of the lake and bay. A swimming pool is located conveniently close to the bar, among the palm trees.

OTHER FACILITIES & SERVICES:
Activities available on the island (and may be subject to an extra charge) include forest walks, boat excursions, bird watching and fishing. Fishing is extremely popular and fees are payable locally to park authorities. For those guests who wish to remain in the camp, a small library provides several games for your enjoyment.

Speke Bay Lodge (Shores of Lake Victoria)

Speke Bay Lodge is situated on the shores of Lake Victoria some 125 km north of Mwanza and 15 km from Serengeti National Park.

NUMBER OF ROOMS & DESCRIPTION:
The lodge has eight, lake facing bungalows with private bathrooms, and nine safari tents with hot showers and toilets situated close-by.

RESTAURANTS & BAR:
Three separate round buildings are joined by a large terrace, which overlooks Lake Victoria. There is a well-stocked bar with a good choice of South African wines. The restaurant offers a blend of international and Tanzanian cuisine; and is specialised in fresh fish from the lake and uses vegetables and fruits from the local fields. The owners have trained the staff, and the quality and refinement that has been achieved, will surprise you. Also here, the size and set-up guarantees plenty of personal attention. There are no large buffets; each client can make his or her choice, and the staff will be happy to cater for your special wishes and diets. Your breakfast or lunch can be served on the terrace of your bungalow at any time you wish, or a table will be set for you on the terrace of the restaurant, in the garden or on the beach.

OTHER FACILITIES & SERVICES:
Boat trips in local canoes and fishing for Nile perch can be organized from the Lodge.
