OLIVERS CAMP 10

Olivers Camp

Oliver’s Camp is located in Tarangire National Park, in Northern Tanzania. The best hideaway for doing safari and bird watching activities

Overview

At Oliver’s Camp the views stretch from Ngorogoro Highlands through to Lake Manyara and The Great Rift Valley, you can imagine yourself in the middle of nowhere….which of course you are. You will be assured a personal and private safari experience at one of Tanzania’s best kept secrets.

Paul Oliver settled in Tarangire National Park in 1985, after much travelling in Africa. He believed he had found the perfect spot for his camp. Wild and unspoilt by mass tourism his small camp proved very popular, delivering expert knowledge and intimate rustic charm to guests on a very personal level. Paul still runs the camp, and the ethos remains the same and continues to thrill guests.

Tarangire National Park is 120 miles South West of Arusha and is renowned for its diverse bird population, massive elephant herds and skyline domineering baobab tress. Lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, impala and zebra are also present in significant numbers. The density of game is second only to Ngorogoro Crater in Tanzania, giving you the best of opportunities to see the animal that means the most to your experience.

Accommodation

The camp has 8 luxury tented rooms, all beautifully furnished with soft beige colors to blend with the surroundings. You will feel almost like you are sleeping outside in the bush, but with all the security and comfort you could wish for. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with an open air shower. The front of the tents open right up, revealing panoramic views across the savannah!

Also the camp has a tented lounge and library area, where you can get together with other guests to discuss your days adventures. Sundowners and stories around the campfire will end your day off perfectly.

Other activities

Oliver’s camp is best known for its walking safaris. Only permitted for the past few years, this is the perfect method to get close to the animals, and enjoy them in a calm quiet fashion. You can also combine this with fly camping with your guide, a fantastic personal experience, sleeping in locations few ever will.

Of course the camp also offer driven safaris, with open top 4×4 vehicles, and with over 25 years experience in the area, no matter what day of the year, your guide will know exactly where to go to see the best game.
