Tour Highlights

  • Hop on Traditional Dhow and head over Bawe Island.
  • Snorkel and discover wonderful starfishes and beautiful corals.
  • Hop on-board and head over the beautiful sandbank.
  • Interactive photo shooting and brilliant bird watching.
  • Enjoy your traditional Swahili lunch extravaganza with your local chef.

We board the dhow and then set sail towards Bawe Island; here we will do some snorkeling with a guide to see the stunning array of colored corals and tropical fish of the islands. Then hop back on-board and let us sail you away to a sand bank where brilliant birdlife exists.

A seemingly uninhabited and quiet bank in the ocean suddenly comes to life with millions of birds flying overhead and ghost crabs scurrying across the golden sands. After lunch relax on the sandbank listening to the bird life around you and the hush of waves lapping against the shore. For the more active discover more underwater life around the sandbank and listen to stories from our crew about sailing the seven seas.

We will slowly sail back to Stone Town after soaking up the sun and return back to the shore by evening.

The island itself is a breeding ground for turtles and they are often seen gliding by along with dolphins, huge schools of fish, whale sharks and humpbacks when in season.

  • Use of Scuba diving equipments included.
  • See Mnemba Atoll, corals and tropical fish when you dive.

  • Interactive under-water photo shooting.

Natural Aquarium in which is a home endangered sea turtles and a variety of fish. The aquarium itself is a natural formation carved out from the coral bedrock by the erosion of millions of waves crashing against the shore. The depth of the water rises and falls with the tides providing a natural environment for its inhabitants.

While watching the white sails of the Dhows go by, you might wonder how these impressive boats are made. The Nungwi Boat Yard is a riveting (if you’ll pardon the pun) experience where you’ll meet the ship yard owner and learn how the dhows are built; from the sourcing of the wood to the joints used and how they are launched.

Please note that the boat building tour is only available as part of the Nungwi Village Tour.

At the end of the walk you can either relax on the sandy beaches or go swimming in the natural sea. Lunch and refreshments are arranged there to taste local delicacies or international food.
Latest Reviews of this VIP tours

  • A fantastic tour of the best landmarks in Zanzibar Islands, the early start and cost may put some people off but it was well worth it. The History of Mkunazini Slave Market is very pity and disastrous! Because the guides were very informative we weren’t that disappointed. All the tour guides were very charming and informative.
  • This was amazing and surpassed my expectations. It was great to be able to see areas the public aren’t generally able to visit. Even more so, to be there in the Historical Stone Town, with only 10 people after hours in Nov, was absolutely breathtaking! Our guide was great too!
