To assist in this, we have what we call the “Project Manual” for each project that volunteers are working with. The manual details the research that went into the project, the history behind it, and what the ultimate goals are. Check yourselves as you go along: Clear Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) strategies are needed.
This keeps the projects flexible, dynamic and fluid, adapting to the needs to the community, changing society and cultural demands. When we carry this out, we aim to consult all the stakeholders in the communities we work with, the volunteers, and the project managers themselves. In 2011 we facilitated over 1000 volunteers to over 20 different projects across 6 different Villages in Zanzibar.
This is roughly countless hours of work that volunteers were helping in Clinics, communities, conservation projects as well as other specialized projects. Last year alone, Zanziplanet Tours supported and refurbished 10 schools, to providing safe and secure areas for the children.
Educational assistance was supplied to 8 schools and 6 children centers – allowing us to help over 1300 children in education last year. Using education as a tool for empowerment Zanziplanet Tours has facilitated over 300 attendees to 10 different HIV education awareness programs with 96% success rate. Adults have been educated in over 19 different skills workshops. Much needed support was provided to overburdened staff in 13 different hospitals and clinics across Africa and 2184 patients were visited at their homes and given basic medical care. Thousands of trees was planted in the coastal areas of Zanzibar through Environmental protection program and now the beaches remain safe day after day and the marine parks remain sustained. Join us now and help to make your changes.
There are dozens of other volunteer project operators out there, and there are countless options, so WHY should you choose Zanziplanet Tours for your volunteering, learning or traveling experience in magnificent Islands of Zanzibar? Established in 2008, we are specialists within the industry.
In 2011 alone we have been privileged enough to share our amazing volunteer opportunities with over 1000 dedicated volunteers who have contributed over 949,617 hours to making a difference in Zanzibar.
